Langtang valley trek – valley of smile and sorrow

Langtang valley trek is close to Kathmandu but feels like a far world. This valley is small but deep with a story. It was broken by an earthquake in 2015; many lives were lost, but now again it stands strong. People rebuild, smile again, and welcome trekkers with love. start from syabrubesi. The first day I climbed through jungle, bamboo and rhododendron trees. you see the langur monkey jump on a branch and hear the sound of a river under the hill. The trail is green and fresh. Each village has warm teahouses. lama hotel, ghodatabela, langtang village, and kynjing gompa. you eat dal bhat, drink butter tea, and talk with guides and local people. kynjing gompa is the end point, a high and open valley. from here you can see langtang lirung big and shining.
one-day hike up to tsergo ri or kyanjin ri. from the top you see a white mountain like an ocean of snow. The air is thin but my heart feels full.

Many people are acclimatizing here. you can walk to gangapurna lake or ice lake. The view of annapurna iii and tilicho peak is wow. Then you prepare for thorong la pass, 5416 meters high. It is a long day. cold, windy, but full of glory. from the top, you see both sides of the world—the annapurna side and the mustang side. then go down to muktinath, a holy place for Hindus and Buddhists.
After that you go to jomsom or tatopani, maybe enjoy the hot spring. Many people also visit Poon Hillside for dawn. The view from there is the best; all of annapurna and dhaulagiri glow is gold in the morning light. Annapurna circuit trek is a mix of nature, culture, and benefit. Ama dablam stands like jewels, with thamserku, kongde, and then Everest far away behind lhotse. you walk through tengboche monastery, smelling incense, hearing monks chanting, and seeing the mountain behind the temple. As the air gets thinner. dingboche, lobuche, gorak shep. food tastes less, sleep is short, but the heart gets strong. Then one morning, I walked to Everest base camp. rock, glacier, and ice everywhere. flag flying, trekkers taking photos, everyone feels like they reached their dream.
